Storm response, power restoration, and line construction — built by the crews who keep the grid running. Hobbs Electric LLC is a lineman-owned contractor based in Wilmington, North Carolina, mobilizing qualified line crews for utilities, cooperatives, and prime contractors nationwide. On call around the clock, every day of the year.
Storm restoration is all we do. Qualified journeyman linemen and support personnel dispatched as complete crews across distribution, transmission, and substation — ready to work under your standards, your switching orders, and your safety program.
Based in Wilmington, North Carolina and deploying coast to coast. Hurricanes on the Gulf and Atlantic, ice storms across the Plains and Midwest, wind events in the Mountain West — crews are ready to roll the moment a system is named.
Out-of-state mobilization and crew logistics are coordinated by our dispatch office so your storm room deals with one point of contact. A trusted partner on mutual aid assignments and contract restoration work, we roll in with the first wave and stay until the last customer is back on.
We work nationwide across the continental United States. Wherever the event is declared, we can get qualified crews, trucks, and a supervisor on the road to it. See the regions we dispatch to and the states each one covers.

Hobbs Electric was founded and is run by working linemen, and the safety program reflects it: daily job briefings, documented tailboards, minimum approach distance discipline, and full personal protective grounding on every job.
Zero incidents. We pride ourselves on a spotless record, and we intend to keep it that way. Every crew goes home the way they showed up — that comes before schedule, before production, and before any job on the board.
We carry full general liability, auto, and workers' compensation coverage. Certificates of insurance, W-9, and safety documentation are available to prequalification teams on request.
Fully insured. COI issued directly to the requesting utility or prime contractor.
An IBEW union shop, working to the standards and agreements of the brotherhood.
One email address, answered 24/7 by the office that assigns the crews.
Journeymen, apprentices, equipment operators, and groundmen — if you travel for storm work, apply once, tell us which areas you will travel to, and we will text you when work opens there. You choose which jobs you take.
You tell us where you are based and where you are willing to travel. Once dispatch reviews and accepts you, you are on the roster. When storm restoration work opens, we pull the crews whose travel areas cover that job and text them the location and the rate — you reply YES or NO. If a job falls outside the areas you picked, you never hear about it.
Email dispatch any hour with the scope and we will come back with crew availability, equipment, and mobilization time.
